Susan Fawcett

Brief Background: Susan is a radiation therapist and the director of the Bachelor of Science in Radiation Therapy (BScRT) Program in the Department of Oncology. She has held various radiation therapist positions in British Columbia and ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥. In 2013 she was seconded from her position of Professional Practice and Academic Lead within Cancer Care ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ to lead the development of the BScRT program.
Interests and Vision for Social Accountability: In her position as director for the Bachelor of Science in Radiation Therapy program, Susan is eager to foster a culture of social accountability in the radiation therapy profession and is working to embedded curriculum and experiential learning experiences which will provide learners an underpinning in social accountability concepts. Susan is an advocate for improving cancer patients' healthcare experiences, especially for those who are members of marginalized populations. She has started a national conversation with radiation therapists colleagues across the country to encourage a broader understanding of what it means to be 'socially accountable'.
Hobbies: Susan enjoys many outdoor pursuits such as hiking, snowshoeing, gardening and biking. Family and friends are important to Susan and she enjoys hosting her loved ones for Sunday dinners. In addition, she volunteers with various community and professional entities.
