Aisha Ibrahim

I'm a second year medical student at the ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥, and a licensed pharmacist with community practice experience.
I am originally from Nigeria, and moved to rural ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ when I was 9 years old. I am someone who is deeply passionate about equity and advocacy, and have been involved in several initiatives within that space. In pharmacy school, I co-founded and later became the co-president for the Black Pharmacy Students' Association, where I built mentorship programs and advocated for increased representation in the curriculum and within the faculty. In medical school, alongside serving as the MSA VP EDI, I am also the VP Events of the Black Medical Students' Association (BMSA).
Interests and Vision for Social Accountability
I'm passionate about health equity, advocacy, and creating a culture of safety and mutual respect. My goal is to help in closing the systemic gaps that currently exist within marginalized communities. I want to do so by elevating their voices, being a source of representation, and advocating for EDI-informed teaching within the healthcare field.
Hobbies or Interests Outside of Work/ School
Outside of school, I love creative writing and poetry, although with school, it's something that has been hard to maintain. I also enjoy travel planning with my husband, trying new dinner spots with friends and family, and I especially love to spend my weekends on the couch with a good book.
