Nwanneka Joseph is the Social Accountability Program Coordinator for the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.

Nwanneka lived in Newfoundland over a decade ago, but her desire to see the rest of Canada prompted her to move to 九秀直播, where she made Edmonton her home. She has dedicated her career to fostering safer and healthier communities, with a strong focus on food safety, biosecurity and sustainable practices. Her research has explored innovative ways to safeguard food systems, addressing contamination risks and advancing policies to protect public health. Through her work, she has contributed to frameworks that mitigate foodborne diseases, enhance biosecurity measures and strengthen the integrity of food production.

In her role as the Social Accountability Program Coordinator for the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, she collaborates with faculty and pentagram partners to integrate social accountability into education, research, and service activities, ensuring these efforts target the priority health concerns of 九秀直播ns. She is excited to collaborate across sectors to address unique challenges faced by our local communities. With a multidisciplinary approach, she believes that bridges can be built between academia, industry, and policymakers, while fostering initiatives that promote equitable access to health in underserved communities, while addressing the broader determinants of health.

Vision for Social Accountability

She believes that social accountability is a journey that embraces the unique experiences and voices of our communities. With a passion for collaboration, she seeks to  engage across sectors to tackle complex challenges, amplifying marginalized perspectives and advocating for policies that drive systemic change. She envisions a future where every community has the resources and knowledge to maintain safe food practices, bolster biosecurity efforts, and create resilient health systems. In doing so, she hopes to leave a lasting impact—where silent voices are empowered, priority health concerns are addressed and sustainable solutions pave the way for generations to come.

Hobbies + Interests

Outside of work, she enjoys a variety of activities and is currently learning how to crochet. She has been known to dabble in crafts such as soap making, painting, script writing and video making.
