Post Diploma BSc Dental Hygiene
The BSc (Dental Hygiene Specialization) Post Diploma Degree Completion Program is for graduates of the ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Dental Hygiene Diploma program.
Three different streams are available depending on when you received your diploma:
- Program A - for students who graduated from the ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Dental Hygiene Program in 1998 to 2001.
- Program B - for students who graduated from the ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Dental Hygiene Program prior to 1998 and from 2008 onward.
- Program C - for students who graduated from the ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Dental Hygiene Diploma Program in 2002 to 2007.

Applications for admission are accepted from the beginning of July to November 1 the year prior to the year admission is sought. Late applications will not be accepted.
Only electronic applications will be accepted.
The following documentation is required:
- Completed ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ for admission and readmission or internal transfer with the non-refundable application fee.
- Official transcripts of your academic record. All previous post-secondary academic records must be provided. Document deadline is June 15 the year admission is sought.
- Letter(s) of good standing from current or previous licensing bodies (if applicable).
- English Language Proficiency/Spoken English Requirement (if required).
Note: Equivalent courses offered at other post-secondary institutions should be taken prior to application to the ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥, BSc (Dental Hyg) Degree Completion program. Application for admission to BSc (Dental Hyg) Degree Completion should only be made if you are planning on registering in course(s) offered at the ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ for the term you are applying for. Students who do not register in a course in the term for which they have been admitted will have their registration cancelled and will have to reapply for admission.
A student proceeding towards a BSc (Dental Hygiene Specialization) Post-Diploma Degree is expected to complete at least half of the credits required through courses offered by the ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ (either on or off campus in Fall/Winter or Spring/Summer). Normally, at least half of these '¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥' courses will be taken as the final courses in the BSc (Dental Hygiene Specialization) Post-Diploma Degree completion Program.
This program is intended for diploma graduates from the ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Dental Hygiene Program between the years of 1998-2001 who completed the extended diploma curriculum.
Applications for admission are accepted between July 1 to November 1 the year prior to the year admission is sought.
Admission requirements
- Graduation from ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Dental Hygiene Program with a minimum GPA of 2.0
- Letter(s) of good standing from current and previous licensing bodies.
Program A Information
Program A consists of the following courses (18 units of course weight):
- D HYG 417 - *3
- D HYG 418 - *3
- D HYG 431 - *3
- D HYG 440 - *3
- Two options (At the 300- or 400 level with the approval of Program Director) - *6
- A maximum of *3 from PAC course is permitted. (D HYG 430 may be taken as an option)
Note: Advanced credit for two options at the 300 or 400 level may be provided for ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ 1998 graduates who have successfully completed DHYG 214 Spring/Summer session 1997.
This program is intended for diploma graduates from the ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Dental Hygiene Program prior to 1998 and after 2008.
Applications for admission are accepted between July 1 to November 1 the year prior to the year admission is sought.
Admission requirements
- Graduation from ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Dental Hygiene Program with a minimum GPA of 2.0.
- Letter(s) of good standing from current and previous licensing bodies.
Applicants must have completed an additional *30 of University transferable course weight of which the following are required:
- *3 of Psychology
- *3 of Sociology or Humanities
- *6 of English
- *3 of Statistics
Program B Information
Program B consists of the following courses (30 units of course weight):
- D HYG 417 - *3
- D HYG 418 - *3
- D HYG 422 - *3
- D HYG 431 - *3
- D HYG 440 - *3
- D HYG 468 (or equivalent health research course) - *3
- Four Options - *12 (Two at the 300 or 400 level with the approval of Program Director). A maximum of *3 from PAC course is permitted. (D HYG 430 may be taken as an option)
Note: Advanced credits for two options (one option at the 300 or 400 level and one option at the 200 level) will be provided for ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ 1997 graduates who have successfully completed DHYG 213 in the Spring/Summer Session 1996.
This program is intended for diploma graduates from the ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Dental Hygiene Program between the years of 2002 - 2007 who have completed the extended diploma curriculum.
Applications for admission are accepted between July 1 to November 1 the year prior to the year admission is sought.
Admission requirements
- Graduation from ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Dental Hygiene Program with a minimum GPA of 2.0
- Letter(s) of good standing from current and previous licensing bodies.
Program C Information
Program C consists of the following courses (30 units of course weight):
- D HYG 417 - *3
- D HYG 418 - *3
- D HYG 422 - *3
- D HYG 431 - *3
- D HYG 440 - *3
- D HYG 468 (or equivalent health research course) - *3
- SOC 210 (Or equivalent statistics course) - *3
- Three Options (Two at the 300 or 400 level with the approval of Program Director) - *9
- A maximum of *3 from PAC courses is permitted. (D HYG 430 may be taken as an option)
Official transcripts showing all post-secondary work completed to date and, if applicable, current course registration should be submitted when application for admission is made. A transcript is not required for work completed at the ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥.
All transcripts must be received by June 15.
