Research
The Faculty has contributed significantly to the external research funding dollars acquired by the ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥. The Faculty of Native Studies' record at attracting significant levels of funding along with established research approaches suggests that the Faculty has a continuing important position at a research-intensive university. From the past and current successful research application grants, FNS represents significant continued research-community relationships as follows:
- Tri-Council funding (SSHRC) was awarded in support of research related to the Historical geographical perspectives of the Métis Nation: The case of the Subarctic Métis, 1850-1911.
- Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada - aboriginal policy studies (academic journal);
- Peavine Metis Settlement - Metis Settlement Harvesting Rights
FNS received funding from the Government of ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥, Ministry of Enterprise and Advanced Education (formerly the Ministry of Advanced Education and Technology) to support an Academic Institute to be housed in the Faculty - The Rupertsland Centre for Metis Research.
