Masters of Law (LLM)
The Master of Laws is a one-year research degree program which enables law students, lawyers and academics from related disciplines to hone legal expertise and conduct advanced research.
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
The Doctor of Philosophy is a three-year research degree program that attracts aspiring legal academics who have already completed a postgraduate degree in law.
Admissions
Masters and PhD applicants must apply through the Faculty of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies. The online application along with required documentation MUST be received on or before 11:59 PM MST on Dec. 1 of the year prior to admission.
The fee for applications to all graduate programs is $135 CAD. Payments can be made using a valid credit card only; we accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discovery Card. The application fee is no longer waived for some students based on their country of origin.

Scholarships, Awards and Funding for Law Grad Students
We strive to provide our graduate students with financial assistance through scholarships, awards, tuition waivers and graduate research assistant positions.
Students who receive an offer of admission will automatically be considered for scholarships. Scholarship awards will be evaluated on a competitive basis with other students who are admitted in a given year. . Graduate students are also encouraged to review funding options offered by the Faculty of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies.
