Skills Enterprise

The Skills and Experience Development Initiative for Francophones and Newcomers

Launched by Campus Saint-Jean in January 2025, this program is designed to help Francophones and newcomers better integrate into the ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ economy. Skills Enterprise: Skills and Experience Development Program for Francophones and Newcomers – Campus Saint-Jean is supported by the Government of Canada, the Government of ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥, and the ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥.

The program will offer a variety of training paths for interested individuals. Participants will be admitted as a cohort with each cohort focussed on a particular theme. The program will consist of approximately four weeks of training followed by a three-month internship where participants will be mentored by experts in their fields.

This initiative will help people who want to integrate into the ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ economy, either by working for an organisation or by setting up a business that fits into the local economy. Tuition fees will be $1,500 per person.

Available Training Paths

University Sector

This program is aimed at people who would like to study in the university sector here at Campus Saint-Jean. People interested in completing research, setting up a virtual bookshop, developing a database, setting up their own business, etc. are asked to consider enrolling in this program.

The program first ran February 10, 2025, to May 30, 2025.

School Environments

This program is aimed at people who would like to work in a school environment. Under this program, participants will follow a program that prepares them for a position in a school system, such as student assistant, teacher assistant, reception, payroll, bus driver, caretaker, etc. This program could also be of interest to people who have trained elsewhere in education and would like to take a program that introduces them to ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥'s school culture.

The first cohort of this program ran from March 3, 2025, to June 20, 2025.

Hotel Industry

This program has been postponed and Dr Richard Slevinsky will be contacting those who have registered to relaunch the program.

This program will receive its participants July 3rd, 2025 and the theme will look at Tourism, specifically the Hotel Industry. To date, we are planning to develop a program where participants will receive preparatory training to work in the Hotel Industry and then will be placed in a Hotel to complete the 12 week practicum. Please note that some English language proficiency is required to participate in this program.
