Memorial Announcement for Dr. Raj Pannu

A memorial service for Dr. Raj Pannu, a former professor in the Department of Sociology in the Faculty of Arts and the Department of Department of Educational Foundations in the Faculty of Education, will be held at the Faculty Club on Saturday April 12th. Dr. Pannu retired from the ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ in 1996, then was elected as MLA in the riding of Edmonton-Strathcona, a seat that he held until 2008. Between 2000 and 2004, Dr. Pannu was leader of the NDP party in ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥.
For his lifelong contributions to education, politics, and public service, Raj was recognized with an honorary doctorate from the ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ in 2019, and received the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee medal in 2022.
