Wellness Alert
Students living in residence are encouraged to report symptoms of illness so rising trends can be detected early, keeping everyone in the community healthier.
Reports are strictly confidential. Wellness alerts are used to estimate the number of people unwell in each community and identify concerns early to take appropriate steps to strengthen community health, like more frequent cleaning.
A wellness alert is not intended as a tool for medical treatment. If you are concerned about your symptoms, visit or call Health Link (811).
In case of an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency clinic or hospital.
Guidelines for when you are sick
If you're not feeling well, please follow these guidelines to help you recover quickly and prevent the spread of illness:
- Rest in your room until symptoms have disappeared, unless travelling to the nearest washroom.
- Wash your hands frequently with soap and warm water, especially before handling food and after using the washroom or touching high-contact surfaces (door knobs, light switches, elevator buttons, self-serve food items). If you aren’t near a sink, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Keep some distance from others if you are well enough to eat in the dining hall.
- Stay hydrated with plenty of liquids (e.g. water, clear broth, Powerade, etc.)
- Don’t share food, drinks, utensils or personal items with others.
- Start fresh once you feel better, get a new toothbrush, disinfect surfaces and wash your clothes and bedding.
