What is Covered
As per the Museums and Collections Policy, U¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Museums is the office of responsibility for all museum objects and specimens, including works of art, which are owned by or entrusted to (i.e. on loan to, or loaned by) the ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ while on its premises, in temporary storage, or in transit.
Only units that are registered as a museum collection under the policy are authorized to acquire, borrow, or lend museum objects or specimens in conjunction with U¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Museums.
Units that are not registered as a museum collection with U¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Museums that are interested in acquiring, borrowing, or lending museum objects or specimens must contact U¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Museums prior to any negotiations with donors, vendors, lenders, or borrowers. U¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Museums will assess and advise units on all potential acquisitions and loans, and will liaise with the Office of Insurance & Risk Assessment regarding insurance coverage under the Fine Arts Insurance Policy.
What is not Covered
- Buildings, equipment and tools, furniture and fixtures
- Wear and tear, gradual deterioration
- Shipment by mail
- Mysterious disappearance or unexplained loss or shortage
Deductible
An internal deductible may apply to a faculty, department or ancillary unit regardless of the amount of the claim. Whether or not a deductible amount applies will be determined based on the reason(s) for the loss(es) and consideration of the loss(es) as preventable or non-preventable.
