Event Organizer Training for Students

Event Organizer Training (EOT) is an online, asynchronous training offered by the Student Affairs Team.

EOT is an introduction to event policies and procedures, risk assessment and management processes, event planning basics, and guidelines for hosting high-risk events such as events with alcohol, physical activity, travel, speakers and minors.

Who needs to take EOT?

  • The course is open to anyone who wishes to learn more about planning events and the policies and procedures related to both on- and off-campus student group events. Typically, individuals who complete this training are in an executive role, on an events planning committee, or will serve as the Primary Event Organizer (PEO), Secondary Event Organizer (SEO) or volunteer for student group events.
  • Student groups must have a minimum of two members with valid EOT.

How long is EOT valid?

  • EOT is valid for two calendar years from the date the course was completed.
  • For example, if you completed the course on March 18, 2025, it is valid until March 18, 2027. EOT is valid for any group you are a member of as it is tied to the individual student, not the specific group.

EOT is on Canvas!

The eClass course closed on November 1, 2024 and is no longer accessible. * For students who completed EOT via eClass within the last 2 years, the certification is still valid.

Please contact a Student Affairs Advisor if you experience any issues with the online course or have any questions about the course content. We are happy to help!
