Caitlin Hurd
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Rehabilitation Medicine
Caitlin has been involved in pre-clinical and clinical neurorehabilitation research and clinical practice as a physical therapist for a number of years. Pursuing her PhD in rehabilitation science was a great opportunity to combine clinical and research interests.
"I’ve learned the value of being a clinician-researcher when studying complex clinical questions because you’re able to combine the theoretical, research knowledge with ‘real-world’, clinical considerations."
Caitlin believes research is a collaborative effort and appreciates the great researchers she has worked and the opportunities provided working with organizations like ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Innovates and the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation through the Women and Children’s Health Research Institute (WCHRI).
Caitlin's advice for prospective students: "Go into the experience with an open mind. I had been involved in research for many years before pursuing my PhD, but the program, and specifically the other students, continually challenged me to be a better, more well-rounded researcher."
Caitlin is currently a postdoctoral fellow with the Neurosciences, Rehabilitation and Vision Strategic Clinical Network (NRV SCN) at ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ Health Services (AHS).
