Emily Simon

 

Emily is a second year Masters in Library and Information Studies student at the ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ and will be working as a graduate research assistant at the Bohdan Medwidsky Ukrainian Folklore Archives. She began her work at the archives as a volunteer, processing audio, visual, and written material.

Prior to her MLIS, Emily completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English, with a minor in creative writing, at MacEwan University. During her time at MacEwan, she worked as a research assistant for the department of English, where she was first introduced to Ukrainian literature. Emily is also the communications coordinator for the student group, Future Librarians for Intellectual Freedom, which works towards promoting free access to information and against censorship through initiatives like their book drive and semesterly newsletter. She is also the new program coordinator for the Greater Edmonton Library Association. Emily is originally from Red Deer, ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥, and spends her free time reading and writing poetry and fiction.
