Overview

  • Shandong University, established in 1864, is one of China's oldest institutions of higher learning, with its origins rooted in Tengchow College of Liberal Arts, the predecessor of Cheeloo University.

  • The university has made significant advancements in scientific research, ranking 8th among domestic universities for articles indexed by the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) in 2012.

  • Shandong University spans over 533 hectares, including multiple campuses in Jinan, Qingdao, and Weihai, serving a full-time student population of 60,000, with over 1,700 international students.

  • With 10,200 staff members, including faculty from affiliated hospitals, the university is known for its large scale and diverse academic offerings.

Students who are Canadian citizens applying for this program are encouraged to apply for funding through the Canada Learning Initiative in China (CLIC) program.

Open to: All Faculties
Level: Undergraduate, Graduate
GPA: Minimum cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 in the terms with your 24 most recently completed credits, faculty-specific requirements, or partner university requirements, whichever is highest.

  • Students are responsible for travel arrangements to Shandong and any additional costs, including visa fees, medical coverage, books and supplies, meals, entertainment, and incidental expenses.

  • Students can choose from 9 courses, ranging from Art and Archaeology to Smart Energy and Sustainable Future.

  • The program offers a comprehensive introduction to Chinese culture and language, providing students with both academic and practical learning experiences.

  • Fieldwork and excursions are included to enhance the cultural learning experience, with visits to key historical and cultural landmarks.



 Housing

Participants will stay in a standard room, especially for international students, shared by two in the College of International Education. The room has a bathroom, internet access, TV, telephone, and air conditioner. An internet bar and library are free to use in the College. Wireless internet access is available in the lobby of the teaching building.
