Review Criteria
Each application will be reviewed and ranked according to the following criteria.
Research Project
- Project is clearly defined, well written and understandable to a non-specialist.
- Clearly stated rationale, hypothesis and research aims.
- The description provides enough methodological details to evoke confidence that the goals of the project will, in all likelihood, be achieved.
- The project has the potential to contribute substantially to knowledge in the field.
- There is a clear description of the student's role and contribution to the research project and their progress is appropriate given the student's time in the program.
Lay Summary
- The summary accurately reflects the proposal, uses lay terms, and is well written.
Relevant experience and progress
- Clear description of the applicant’s education, training, and research experience and how these have set the applicant up for success. Specific examples given.
- Progress on the research project is excellent for the type of research and stage of program.
Research Environment
- Clearly written description of the research environment and how it will enable applicant's success.
- Clearly written description of the mentorship plan.
- In the reviewer's opinion, the research environment will support the applicant's success.
