Healthy soil with Walter the worm
10 June 2025
ALI’s own Walter the worm is one of the many living parts of soil that make up an ecosystem.
Soil contains all sorts of micro organisms that benefit the soil in different ways.
Organisms like Walter and his friends, the microorganisms, work together with minerals, liquids, organic matter and gasses to keep soils healthy and thriving.
Healthy soils have a number of benefits including:
- Growing healthy food
- Storing, supplying and purifying water
- Modifying our atmosphere
- Managing carbon
- Providing the building blocks for our ecosystem
