Healthy soil with Walter the worm

ALI has had the pleasure of joining Future Energy Systems for two different events that brought educational activities about energy, the environment and more to the next generation of young researchers and citizens. The institute's activity this year informed participants about what makes healthy soil and why healthy soils are important.

ALI’s own Walter the worm is one of the many living parts of soil that make up an ecosystem.

Soil contains all sorts of micro organisms that benefit the soil in different ways.

Organisms like Walter and his friends, the microorganisms, work together with minerals, liquids, organic matter and gasses to keep soils healthy and thriving.
